Position: API Platform Architect (Kong)

Location: Onsite in Atlanta, GA (Relocation yes)

Job Description

 

10+ years’ experience required

Digital : Application Programming Interface (API)

 

Role Overview

  • Own end to end architecture for Kong Konnect and Kong Gateway (Control Plane Data Plane) across onprem and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Lead ARB reviews, target architecture, security, HADR, observability, and performance-scalability design.
  • Define API governance standards, design-first approach and lifecycle management collaborate with Security, Network, Infra and Product teams.

 

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • 10 years in integration-API architecture with at least 2 enterprise API gateway programs.
  • Kong Konnect Gateway architecture, decK, declarative config, workspaces, RBAC.
  • Security patterns mTLS, OAuth2OIDC, JWT, API keys, rate limiting, WAF, secretscert management.
  • Cloud onprem Google Cloud Platform (VPC, load balancing), Linux, networking fundamentals.
  • Observability integration (Dynatracelogging), audit and compliance controls.
  • CICD and IaC principles (Git, Git branching, Terraform pipelines).

 

Good to Have Technical Skills:

  • Experience with ApigeeKong migration programs and multiorg multi region topologies.
  • SRE Chaos resiliency patterns service mesh (IstioLinkerd).
  • Cost performance optimization and capacity sizing for high TPS gateways
