Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Snowflake data warehousing, SQL/PL-SQL, data modeling, API integration, and Power BI semantic modeling.
The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable data solutions, ingesting structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources, and integrating cloud data platforms with enterprise applications. Candidates should also have working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and strong data engineering fundamentals.
Ideal Candidate
A hands-on Snowflake Data Engineer who combines strong SQL/PL-SQL and data modeling skills with semi-structured data ingestion, REST API integration, Power BI semantic modeling, and Azure knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data warehouse solutions using Snowflake.
- Configure and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses for workload performance and resource utilization.
- Develop and maintain Snowflake data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Build data ingestion pipelines for structured and semi-structured data, including JSON, Avro, and Parquet.
- Integrate external applications and data sources using REST APIs and web services.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and PL/SQL code.
- Implement data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and quality checks.
- Support Power BI semantic model development and data integration for reporting and analytics.
- Work with Microsoft Azure services to support cloud-based data ingestion, storage, and processing.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance issues, and data inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow established development and data quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.
- Strong experience with Snowflake virtual warehouses and data warehouse configuration.
- Proven experience in Snowflake data modeling and warehouse development.
- Experience ingesting and processing semi-structured data into Snowflake.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs and application/data integration.
- Hands-on expertise in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience developing or supporting Power BI semantic models.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud data engineering concepts.
- Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in New York City three days per week.
- Willingness to attend an in-person client interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Familiarity with Snowflake features such as VARIANT, FLATTEN, stages, and Snowpipe.
- Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and implementing data transformation workflows.
- Knowledge of Power BI, DAX, and semantic model optimization.
- Experience with data quality frameworks, monitoring, and performance tuning.
