A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is seeking a senior Keynote Shader & Effects Engineer who lives and breathes realtime graphics to own the design, implementation, and optimization of the shaders and visual effects that power our custom animation rendering engine. You''ll set the bar for effect quality and performance across the team, work in a highly-collaborative team, and inspire millions of loyal customers.
Key Qualifications:
• Proven ability to write highly performant realtime graphics shader code using modern techniques, holding 60/120fps at 4K across a range of silicon, including thermally-constrained devices
• Strong grasp of the realtime rendering pipeline: rasterization, compute, render passes, resource binding, and GPU/CPU synchronization
• Ability to visualize and translate high-level visual concepts into efficient shader implementations
• Track record of owning a subsystem or feature area end to end
• Excellent communication skills
• Deep, hands-on Metal experience strongly preferred. Exceptional GLSL/Vulkan candidates considered if paired with demonstrated low-level GPU optimization work
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills
Responsibilities:
• Designing, prototyping, and shipping new shader-driven visual effects for the Keynote animation engine
• Collaborating with designers to translate creative direction into performant realtime effects
• Writing and maintaining production-quality Metal shaders, optimized for silicon GPUs using state-of-the-art graphics techniques
• Keeping up with the latest best practices in shader and realtime rendering research
• Applying modern testing methodologies to a wide variety of effects across devices
Nice-to-have:
• Fluency with foundational graphics frameworks and how they interoperate with custom Metal code
• Experience applying ML models and Vision to realtime graphics and image processing
• Familiarity with the broader graphics stack (Core Graphics, Core Animation)
• Familiarity with computer graphics research (SIGGRAPH, GDC, etc.)
• Experience with Motion, After Effects, or other animation/effects tools
• Experience with scripting, unit testing, and automated testing
• Artistic or design background
Please include:
• Examples of your shader work: Shadertoy links, GitHub repositories, effect breakdowns, or shipped effects you can point to.
