Job: Design Engineer- Physical Security Systems
Location: 100% remote from anywhere in the US
Duration: long-term contract position
The Security Designer is a critical role responsible for overseeing the successful design of complex security projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of security systems and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Management:
o Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines.
o Track project progress and identify potential risks and issues
o Proactively address challenges and implement solutions.
o Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
o Effectively oversee project closeouts and lessons learned
o Manage project budgets and resources effectively.
* Technical Expertise:
o Possess a strong understanding of security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems.
o Review and approve design packages, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
o Coordinate with design teams to develop accurate and detailed design documentation.
o Oversee the selection and procurement of appropriate equipment and materials.
o Ability to explain and enforce application of security standards to other stakeholders
o Create security design packages, ensuring all designs comply with industry, federal, state, and local codes (e.g., NFPA) and client requirements.
o Utilize working knowledge of CAD and BlueBeam to develop and review design documentation.
* Client Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
o Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
o Proactively address client concerns and resolve issues.
o Ability to attend and communicate in weekly stakeholder meetings
o Conduct monthly meetings to report projects' progress and statuses with leadership
* Team Leadership:
o Mentor and guide team members to ensure optimal performance.
o Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
o Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team progress.
o Manage a trusted environment to foster productivity and value
* Quality Assurance:
o Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet high standards.
o Conduct regular quality assurance reviews and audits.
o Identify and address quality issues promptly.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in project management, specifically within the physical security or low-voltage systems industry.
* In-depth technical knowledge of security systems (ACS, SVS, Intrusion Detection, Fire Alarm).
* Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws, as well as life safety and fire codes.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency with project management software (e.g., SmartSheets, Google Suite) and design tools (e.g., CAD, BlueBeam, and other Auto Desk products).
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
* Professional certifications such as PMP, CPP, or CSPM.
* Experience with specific security systems like Ccure, Axis, or Flir.
* Knowledge of LEED and CPTED principles.
* Experience in the construction and facility management industries.

Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security or law enforcement are a plus
* Proven experience in physical security, law enforcement, or a related field
* Strong knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and best practices
* Excellent observation and problem-solving skills
* Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficient in using security systems and equipment
