Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead - Micro Focus / Visual COBOL
Location: Blythewood, South Carolina
Duration: 12 Months - Possible Extension
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Onsite initially; hybrid may be available after training
We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead with strong hands-on experience developing and supporting COBOL applications using Micro Focus and/or Visual COBOL.
This position supports complex Windows-based client-server applications and requires strong COBOL development, Oracle SQL, production support, troubleshooting, and technical leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot complex COBOL applications.
Work with Micro Focus COBOL and/or Visual COBOL environments.
Support Windows-based client-server applications.
Develop and maintain applications interacting with Oracle databases.
Write and analyze Oracle SQL queries and support database-related application functionality.
Provide Level 3 production support and troubleshoot complex application issues.
Analyze defects, identify root causes, and implement technical solutions.
Participate in application design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Provide technical leadership and collaborate with development and business teams.
Support ongoing application enhancements and production operations.
Required Skills:
Senior-level COBOL development experience.
Hands-on Micro Focus COBOL and/or Visual COBOL experience.
Experience developing COBOL applications in Windows/client-server environments.
Strong Oracle SQL/database experience.
Complex application development and maintenance experience.
Level 3 production support and troubleshooting experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Technical leadership or lead developer experience.
Important:
This is NOT a traditional IBM mainframe COBOL-only position. Candidates must demonstrate meaningful hands-on experience with Micro Focus and/or Visual COBOL and Windows-based client-server applications.
Candidates must currently reside in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia and be able to work onsite in Blythewood, SC during the initial training period. After training, hybrid work may be available based on hiring-manager approval.
