Job#: 3026572 Job Description: The Functional Billing Analyst will oversee day-to-day billing and payment operations, serve as a key liaison across technical and business teams, and provide structure and leadership in areas where processes are still developing.
This position is not a traditional Business Analyst role. Instead, it requires someone with strong functional expertise in billing, subscription management, and payment workflows who can operate independently, think critically, and bring clarity to ambiguous situations.
Key ResponsibilitiesBilling & Payments Operations- Own and manage functional tasks related to billing and payment processes.
- Oversee daily operations of the billing platform, including issue tracking and resolution.
- Coordinate with Accounting on billing workflows, reconciliation activities, and general ledger considerations.
- Monitor billing activity and system performance; compile data and produce reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
Cross-Functional Leadership- Serve as the primary functional bridge between Product, Integrations, Engineering/Development, and Accounting/Finance teams.
- Provide structure, guidance, and leadership in areas where processes or ownership may be undefined.
- Support billing system releases, upgrades, and enhancement requests.
- Research and respond to functionality inquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Identify, document, and track system issues; support translation of business needs into technical deliverables.
Required Qualifications- 2-5+ years of experience in a functional analyst role, ideally within billing, subscription, or payment operations.
- Strong understanding of billing workflows, subscription lifecycles, and payment processing.
- Familiarity with general ledger concepts and their relevance to billing and revenue processes.
- Experience with SaaS-based billing platforms.
- Ability to think critically, work through ambiguity, and independently drive tasks to completion.
- Professional presence and experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to lead functional conversations and provide direction.
- Telecom billing experience is not required and not preferred.
Preferred Attributes- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think through end-to-end billing and payment workflows.
- Comfort leading discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently, take ownership, and proactively identify improvements.
- Experience supporting system enhancements, upgrades, or platform migrations.
