OSP Aerial Lineman - Job DescriptionOverviewThe OSP Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial fiber-optic infrastructure. This role involves working at heights, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation- String, secure, and lash new fiber-optic cables on utility poles.
- Ensure proper cable tension, support, and clearances according to industry standards.
Maintenance & Repair- Inspect aerial fiber lines for wear, damage, or slack.
- Perform re-tensioning, corrective maintenance, and repairs to prevent service interruptions.
Splicing & Termination- Splice fiber-optic cables and terminate connections at service points.
- Use industry-standard tools, equipment, and techniques to ensure precise, high-quality work.
Testing & Troubleshooting- Test signal integrity and optical performance using appropriate test equipment.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve line issues while ensuring compliance with technical standards.
Safety- Follow all safety protocols, including fall protection, traffic control, and electrical hazard procedures.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safe work practices in all aerial environments.
Required Skills & Competencies- Knowledge of fiber-optic installation, splicing, and testing.
- Experience in OSP construction, aerial plant work, and telecom installation.
- Ability to work from bucket trucks, ladders, and/or aerial lifts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle delicate fiber components carefully.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a crew under a lead technician or supervisor.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
