Work Mode: Hybrid (Monday to Thursday in office, Friday ½ day work from home).Duration: Full Time Position SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team in San Diego. Experience working in a consulting firm on healthcare projects is required for success in this role.
Working from either the Los Angeles or San Diego office, you will contribute to the design of major projects involving both inpatient and outpatient healthcare engineering design across all phases. You will be part of a large team of over 100 engineers nationally with extensive experience and opportunities for career growth.
Mission Critical, Science + Technology, Healthcare, and Project Management experience is a plus.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for representing the firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
- Design large projects.
- Prepare reports and specifications.
- Provide a high level of technical leadership.
- Provide consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports.
- Develop sustainable mechanical solutions and produce concepts and detailed drawings.
- Oversee the production of drawings consistent with client requirements and standards.
- Coordinate with the design team, owner, and contractors.
- Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
- Prepare proposals and administer project contracts between the firm and the client, including Add Service Agreements.
- Conduct business development activities, participate in various trade organizations, and prepare presentations.
- Establish project budgets and schedules.
- Participate in the QA/QC process for completed work by staff.
- Perform staff resource management and review.
Job Requirements- Current PE registration as a Mechanical Engineer required.
- Solid and stable work track record.
- Ability to fully design mechanical systems for various building types, including commercial and mixed-use buildings.
- Experience with mission critical, life science, and R&D facilities is a major plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 8+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
- 3+ years of supervisory and/or project management experience.
- LEED AP accreditation highly preferred.
- Strong ability to coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom systems, including constructability and cost considerations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- PE required.
