Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chief Building Engineer to support the operations, maintenance, and repair of building systems within a commercial or industrial facility. This role assists the Chief Engineer in leading the engineering team and ensuring the optimal performance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and HVAC systems. The Assistant Chief Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and compliance with safety and building codes, while also playing a key role in team leadership and vendor coordination.

Frontline Pay Transparency/Benefits:

Pay: $ 40-45/hour The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary basedon applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

$40 - $45 an hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Chief Engineer in managing daily building operations and maintenance.

Supervise, train, and mentor engineering staff to maintain high standards of work quality and efficiency.

Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, coordinating repairs with vendors and contractors as needed.

Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) for energy efficiency and optimal performance.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety codes, including OSHA regulations and NFPA standards.

Manage inventory and procurement of maintenance supplies and spare parts.

Oversee the completion of work orders and maintenance documentation.

Collaborate with property management and tenants to address service requests and maintenance needs.

Respond to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of experience in building maintenance, facility management, or engineering.

3+ years of experience supervising maintenance teams and coordinating building operations.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, MEP, and building automation systems (BAS).

Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, and safety standards.

Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
