About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AIX Administrator with strong expertise in IBM Power Systems and PowerVM virtualization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise-level AIX environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and support AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems.
- Manage PowerVM virtualization, including LPARs, VIOS, NPIV, and virtual device configurations.
- Perform system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization for AIX environments.
- Manage AIX system backups, security hardening, patching, and OS updates.
- Ensure high availability, system uptime, and stability across enterprise workloads.
- Collaborate with storage, network, and application teams to support system operations.
- Monitor system health, create capacity planning reports, and implement proactive improvements.
- Handle user administration, filesystem management, and logical volume management (LVM).
- Provide on-call support for critical production systems when required.
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and system runbooks for all AIX environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience as an AIX Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of IBM Power Systems, LPAR management, and PowerVM virtualization.
- Experience with VIOS (Virtual I/O Server) administration and NPIV configurations.
- Expertise in AIX LVM, filesystem operations, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of system performance tuning, monitoring tools, and OS-level diagnostics.
- Knowledge of backup solutions such as TSM/Spectrum Protect, NIM server, and mksysb operations.
- Experience with patch management, security updates, and AIX OS builds.
Preferred (Good to Have) Skills
- Knowledge of HMC (Hardware Management Console) operations.
- Experience with automation tools (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible – optional).
- Basic understanding of SAN environments, zoning, and storage connectivity.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments with mission-critical workloads.

- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Team player with strong collaboration skills.
