Sr. Low Voltage Field Technician
Primary Location: Raritan, NJ
V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Sr. Low Voltage Field Technician for our premier client, Raritan, NJ.
Education and Experience »
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience leading teams7+ years of experience installing low voltage systems including structured cabling, fiber optics, wireless access points, or security systems preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of structured cabling systems including Category 5e, Category 6, and fiber optic cabling.
- Basic understanding of MDF and IDF environments including racks, patch panels, cable management, and grounding concepts.
- Ability to install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber cabling in accordance
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Job Responsibilities:
- Experience installing low voltage systems such as wireless access points, CCTV cameras, and related devices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, and basic low voltage schematics.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship and proper documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, customers, and other field personnel.
- Ability to work independently in the field while following defined scopes of work and company standards.
- Sr. Low Voltage Field Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and support of low voltage systems across domestic and international project sites.
- Perform structured cabling installations including copper and fiber cabling, pathways, and device terminations.
- Install and mount wireless access points, CCTV cameras, and other low voltage devices per project scope and drawings.
- Label and test all cabling in accordance with TIA, BICSI, and client-specific standards.
- Support MDF and IDF buildouts including rack installation, patch panels, cable management, grounding, and equipment mounting.
- Perform field work safely and in compliance with OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct work at project sites across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, adhering to local regulations and site rules.
- Participate in site walkthroughs, field surveys, and coordination meetings as required.
- Communicate daily progress, issues, and completion status to project management and engineering teams.
- Assist with redline markups and field documentation to support accurate as-built drawings.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
Travel Requirements »
- This position requires extensive travel to project sites across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
- Overtime, night work, weekend work, and holiday work may be required based on project schedules and customer needs.
- Candidate must be able to comply with all travel, safety, and site access requirements.
