Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Validation Engineer to join our R&D team in Newport Beach, CA. This role focuses on validating high-speed IC products used in optical communication systems. You will be responsible for testing, verifying, and improving product performance before production, ensuring compliance with specifications and identifying design issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform validation and verification of high-speed optical and electrical interfaces (e.g., SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet)
  • Conduct testing such as BER analysis, eye diagram evaluation, and link stress testing
  • Validate performance of optical components like TIAs, drivers, and equalizers
  • Analyze parameters including bandwidth, gain, noise, jitter, and signal integrity
  • Correlate lab test results with design simulations and specifications
  • Support validation across different stages (DVT, PVT) and troubleshoot issues
  • Develop and execute automated validation processes using scripting (Python, C#, or MATLAB)
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and optical testing tools
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve designs
  • Document findings, generate reports, and support production readiness

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience in IC validation, high-speed interfaces, or optical systems
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, system-level architecture, and hardware debugging
  • Experience with validation against specifications and compliance standards
  • Knowledge of scripting/programming (Python, C#, or MATLAB)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of optical systems, electronics design, or mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with software architecture, databases, or fabrication processes
