Role Overview
A Lead .NET Full Stack Developer is needed to lead the modernization of a business-critical application stack and guide a small development team through a major platform upgrade.
This role will focus on modernizing legacy technologies and migrating core systems to modern platforms, including:
· Modernizing .NET Framework 4.x applications to .NET 8
· Migrating SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2022
· Modernizing the front-end using React.js
This position requires both hands-on development and technical leadership, along with the ability to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver modernization initiatives successfully.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the end-to-end modernization of legacy applications to modern platforms and architecture.
· Define and execute the technical migration strategy, including phased releases, risk mitigation, and rollback planning.
· Modernize backend services including APIs, authentication/authorization patterns, performance optimization, and security enhancements using .NET 8.
· Lead SQL Server migration efforts, including schema updates, stored procedure refactoring, query tuning, indexing, and compatibility testing.
· Ensure data integrity and performance stability throughout the SQL Server 2008 → 2022 upgrade.
· Lead and contribute hands-on to React.js front-end modernization, including component development and API integrations.
· Establish and enforce coding standards, code reviews, testing practices, and documentation.
· Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and SMEs to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
· Mentor developers, remove technical blockers, and drive high-quality delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
· 8+ years of software development experience
· Strong experience with C# and .NET Framework 4.x, including modernization to .NET Core / .NET 8
· Experience with MVC / Web API or similar API frameworks
· Strong experience with SQL Server, including:
- T-SQL
- Stored procedures
- Query optimization
- Performance tuning
- Legacy database environments
· Experience developing modern web applications using React.js
· Proven experience leading application modernization or migration initiatives
· Strong understanding of software architecture, clean coding practices, logging, security, and error handling
· Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD processes
· Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred / Nice to Have
· AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)
· Experience with containerization and modern deployment practices (Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
· Experience with automated testing frameworks (unit and integration testing)
· Familiarity with modernization approaches such as:
- Strangler pattern
- Incremental migration strategies
- API layer refactoring
