Job Overview:
We are looking for a visionary Azure Cloud Architect to lead the architectural design, security, and scalability of our enterprise healthcare AI platforms on Microsoft Azure. You will architect high-throughput data processing pipelines, integrate AI/ML services, and ensure our cloud environment complies with strict healthcare mandates like HIPAA, FHIR standards, GxP, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with platform engineering, AI research teams, data science, and clinical operations to build resilient, multi-tenant cloud systems that power real-time patient insights and clinical trial analytics.
Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & AI Acceleration
· Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance public/hybrid Azure cloud architectures tailored for massive healthcare datasets and Generative AI workloads.
· Architect modern data infrastructures using Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Cosmos DB to handle structured and unstructured clinical trial data.
· Integrate Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Machine Learning, and custom AI models into production microservices.
Healthcare Compliance & Security (Zero-Trust)
· Ensure cloud infrastructure adheres strictly to HIPAA, HITECH, GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and FHIR/HL7 data interoperability guidelines.
· Build robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) to manage sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI).
· Architect end-to-end data encryption strategies (at rest and in transit), automated key rotation via Azure Key Vault, and continuous threat monitoring using Azure Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel.
Automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & DevOps
· Lead Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform or Bicep to achieve deterministic environment provisioning.
· Partner with DevOps engineering to optimize CI/CD automation pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), containerization strategies (Docker), and Kubernetes orchestrations (Azure Kubernetes Service - AKS).
FinOps & Operational Excellence
· Establish FinOps governance to monitor, analyze, and optimize Azure resource consumption, ensuring high performance at optimal cost across multi-tenant client deployments.
· Design High Availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and cross-region replication strategies tailored for mission-critical clinical operations.
Qualifications & Technical Requirements
Education & Background
· Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
· 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Architect specifically on Microsoft Azure.
· 3+ years working within Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, or Health-Tech environments handling PHI/PVI data.
Must-Have Technical Expertise
· Azure Core & Modern Data Stack: Azure App Services, AKS, ADLS Gen2, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB.
· Healthcare Data Interoperability: Familiarity with FHIR APIs, HL7 standards, DICOM, and integrating EHR/Claims data frameworks.
· Security & Compliance: Direct experience implementing HIPAA, GxP validation, and Zero-Trust architecture in cloud platforms.
· Infrastructure as Code: Advanced expertise in Terraform or Bicep.
· Containerization: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) cluster administration and security hardening.
Preferred Certifications
· Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
· Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
· HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
