Role Description:

We are seeking an experienced Workday Benefits & HCM Consultant to provide hands-on functional support during a critical Open Enrollment preparation and execution period. This consultant will primarily support Workday Benefits and Core HCM, helping the team manage complex configuration, troubleshoot issues, test changes, and ensure the environment is fully prepared for Open Enrollment.

The ideal candidate will be a true Workday functional expert with significant experience working in highly customized Workday environments. We are looking for someone who can go beyond standard, out-of-the-box configuration and confidently analyze, configure, and troubleshoot complex business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on functional expertise across Workday Benefits and Core HCM, with a primary focus on Open Enrollment readiness.
• Configure and maintain complex Workday Benefits functionality, including benefit plans, eligibility rules, enrollment events, coverage options, and related business processes.
• Support customized and complex Workday configurations based on unique business requirements rather than relying solely on standard Workday functionality.
• Review existing configuration and identify changes or improvements needed to support Open Enrollment.
• Troubleshoot complex configuration, integration, eligibility, enrollment, and business process issues.
• Partner with Benefits, HR, HRIS, payroll, integration, and technology teams to translate business requirements into effective Workday solutions.
• Support Open Enrollment preparation, configuration, testing, validation, and production readiness.
• Perform configuration changes and participate in unit, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Analyze downstream impacts of Workday configuration changes and help resolve issues across Benefits and HCM processes.
• Provide hands-on support during the Open Enrollment period, including troubleshooting production issues and resolving time-sensitive problems.
• Document configuration decisions, changes, testing results, and recommended solutions.

Requirements:

• Workday Benefits and HCM expert
• Need lots of experience with customized configuration and not just out of the box
• Extensive hands-on Workday Benefits and Core HCM experience.
• Deep expertise with Workday Benefits configuration, including Open Enrollment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting complex, highly customized Workday environments.
• Strong understanding of benefit eligibility, enrollment events, benefit plans, coverage rules, business processes, and related HCM configuration.
• Ability to independently assess requirements and determine the appropriate Workday configuration or solution.
• Experience troubleshooting complex Workday configuration and production issues.
• Strong experience with testing, including configuration validation, regression testing, and Open Enrollment testing.
• Ability to work directly with Benefits and HR stakeholders and translate business needs into technical/functional Workday solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively during high-volume, deadline-driven periods.
