Job Description:
Senior Data Analyst

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are a data science team focused on measuring and improving software development performance at an enterprise scale. In this role, you will focus on metric integrity, analytical correctness, and interpretability across Power BI, Oracle, and MongoDB. You will partner with engineering, product, and leadership to deliver statistically sound insights on metrics such as velocity, work-in-progress, and lead time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate and analyze software development metrics across Oracle, MongoDB, and Power BI to ensure statistical correctness, consistency, and business meaning.
  • Evaluate metric behavior across time, cohorts, teams, and repositories to identify anomalies and shifts.
  • Reconcile metrics back to source tables and collections, explaining any differences.
  • Design repeatable analytic checks such as sampling strategies, reconciliation logic, and outlier reviews.
  • Partner with data engineers, BI developers, and product analysts to assess the analytical impact of pipeline changes.
  • Diagnose Power BI modeling and DAX patterns that affect metric interpretation and stability.
  • Produce structured narratives for stakeholders regarding data findings, confidence levels, and limitations.
  • Contribute to metric standards, documentation, and analytic guardrails for reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with SQL, particularly with an Oracle database, including joins, window functions, and CTEs.
  • Experience with MongoDB, including aggregation pipelines and understanding document-based schema tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, including data models, DAX fundamentals, and metric validation.
  • A solid grounding in statistical reasoning for analytics, including distributions, segmentation, and bias detection.
  • Experience working within an SDLC and analytics delivery lifecycle, with familiarity with Agile or Jira.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex analytical findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise analytics or developer productivity metrics.
  • Familiarity with BI semantic modeling such as star or snowflake schemas.
  • Exposure to Jira, Jenkins, SonarQube, Ansible Tower, or similar engineering tooling.
  • Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for exploratory analysis and validation.
  • A background in data governance, metric stewardship, or analytical standards.
