Summary

Director of Engineering & E-House Business Unit

Washington, NC (primary) | Alternate sites: Raleigh, NC or Richmond, VA | 50%+ travel required

About the Role

Rise Power Systems is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our Modular E-House product line as its de facto general manager. While the title centers on engineering, this role functions as the business owner for the E-House product line - accountable not just for technical definition, but for how the product performs commercially, operationally, and competitively. You\'ll own the platform architecture and design standards, but you\'ll also be expected to weigh in on cost, pricing, capacity, hiring, customer strategy, and program risk as if the P&L were yours, because in practice, it is.

This is the right role for someone who wants full ownership of a product line - not a narrow technical lane - and who\'s comfortable operating across engineering, operations, sales, and supply chain to make the business succeed.

BENEFITS

Competitive Pay based on experience, Typical starting salary range $170k-$220k annually

Health, Dental, Vision, Pet, and life insurance

Short term and long-term disability

401k with company match

PTO, Flex time, and paid holidays

What You\'ll Own

Business ownership: Act as the accountable leader for the E-House product line\'s overall health - technical quality, delivery performance, cost position, and customer satisfaction - coordinating directly with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance as needed.

Platform architecture: Define E-House layouts, structural standards, and integration zones that become the technical foundation for the product line.

Design standardization: Develop templated, configurable designs that cut engineering hours per unit and let the team scale output without scaling headcount.

Manufacturability: Set fabrication and assembly standards, and drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) using direct production feedback.

Compliance: Ensure every product meets applicable UL and regulatory requirements - no exceptions.

Program and commercial execution: Partner with Program Management to align Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain, and stay directly involved in scope, cost, and schedule decisions across active programs.

Customer and business development: Represent the E-House line in customer design discussions, system integration conversations, and major pursuits - acting as a trusted technical and commercial voice for the business.

New Product Introduction: Lead NPI efforts end to end, from concept through first production units.

What You Bring

Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

10+ years of experience in power systems, electrical equipment manufacturing, or modular fabrication.

Direct experience with E-House systems or other integrated electrical/mechanical assemblies.

Demonstrated ability to operate beyond a pure engineering lane - comfortable with cost, schedule, staffing, and customer-facing decisions.

A track record of taking a product from design intent to repeatable, manufacturable, commercially successful output.

Willingness and ability to travel 50% or more across fabrication and integration sites.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience running a product line, business unit, or site with P&L or full operational accountability.

General contractor or building construction background.

Hands-on experience with MCCs, switchgear, and PDUs.

Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).

Experience in EPC project environments, as either a buyer or a supplier.

Exposure to modular construction or skid-mounted electrical systems.
