Summary

AWS Serverless Compute is at the heart of the Serverless movement. It is a fast growing service that is becoming the default compute platform for a wide range of applications includingexecutinguntrustedandAI generatedcodein isolatedenvironmentswith near-instant launch and resume capabilities.

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineers interested in driving the evolution of virtualization and containerization platforms similar to Lambda. We are responsible for the for the complete control plane that allows customers to launch, suspend, clone, and terminate instances of their application while maintaining the serverless benefits of built-in availability. Our services creates millions of VMs on weekly basis and manages the VM lifecyle through millions of transactions.

In this role you will work on developing features that help our customers build solutions rather than manage infrastructure. There is a huge opportunity to innovate and simplify for our customers. You will get the opportunity to work on languages such as Java, TypeScript, Python, and Rust. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with other engineers to build a large scale AWS service, and work with senior leaders to define your team's roadmap. Key job responsibilities
* Lead Technical Strategy and Architecture - Define technical strategies and roadmaps spanning multiple teams, investigating and developing strategies to frame solution sets when the business problem is known but the technical strategy is not yet defined.
* Mentor and Develop Engineering Talent - Lead process creation and improvement projects while mentoring and coaching less experienced members of the organization.
* Design and Deliver Complex Solutions - Work on complex problems with multiple risks and roadblocks, designing and architecting cross-functional solutions.
* Drive Operational Excellence - Ensure operational excellence by identifying opportunities for automation, leading operational support, and resolving root causes of issues.
* Influence Cross-Team Collaboration - Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and partner teams to convert business needs into technical designs while building consensus.
* Deliver High-Quality, Scalable Software - Apply expertise in software engineering, agile methodology, and test-driven design to accomplish complex work assignments autonomously.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
