(Alaska) DS manager

Location: Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska

Role Overview

We are seeking a Distribution Systems Lead CEL Engineer for an on-site position at Eielson Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Alaska. The candidate must reside in the Fairbanks area for daily project support. This role involves evaluating, designing, and overseeing the installation of equipment in telecommunications rooms, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. The position manages teams performing site surveys, rack builds, cabling, and equipment installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys to document power, cooling, bonding/grounding, pathways, and room readiness.
  • Develop or follow layout designs, including rack plans, cable management, grounding, electrical circuits, and equipment placement.
  • Manage labor for room buildouts, rack installation, cable routing, and grounding.
  • Ensure compliance with UFC, TIA/EIA, I3A, and other telecommunications room standards.
  • Coordinate with base civil engineering for facility upgrades or modifications.
  • Support the installation of new fiber, CAT6, WIFI, and CEL closet solutions.
  • Work with Network, Fiber Optic, ISP, and OSP teams for infrastructure integration.
  • Participate in design reviews and customer briefings as a subject matter expert.
  • Provide technical, administrative, and operational management to assigned projects, including contract and subcontractor management.
  • Participate in the development of technical project plans, proposals, reports, and schedules.


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • BA/BS or equivalent with 5+ years of experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience with telecommunications rooms, data center buildouts, or ISP infrastructure.
  • Experience managing cabling, rack installation, or structured cabling teams.

Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of grounding/bonding, power specifications, equipment standards, and room environmental requirements.
  • Experience with telecommunications environments is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing or upgrading MDF/IDF spaces.
  • Experience reading and producing telecom room drawings.
  • BICSI Technician, Installer 2, or RCDD certification.
  • Security+ CE certification.
  • FOA CFOT certification.
