Position SummaryIn this role, you'll be placed into either our new product development or applied engineering group to apply what you've learned in school and participate in Banner's continued growth in the industrial automation and Connectivity products.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager II.
Interns are responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation for the summer internship program.
What You'll Be Doing - Performing qualification tests to ensure conformance to specifications
- Resolving part and process issues by working with production engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Develop concepts, then design and document components and assemblies following departmental processes
- Design and acquire prototype parts for internal evaluation
- Implement efficient and reliable manufacturing processes that allow for short lead times
- Integrate design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) processes to reduce product cost
- Evaluate designs through physical and virtual product testing including performing stress, thermal, and tolerance analyses
- Manage product documentation including engineering prints, Bills of Materials (BOMs), design verification reports, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and process and design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
- Adhere to compliance regulations established by various agencies (CE, UL, etc.)
- Assist in the development and execution of product test plans
- Other duties as assigned

Required- Currently attending a credited Institution working on a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. ABET accredited program preferred
- A working knowledge of solid modeling tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced design/manufacturing techniques
Preferred- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and statistical analysis
- Experience in product design for industrial applications
- Experience with assembly techniques including insert molding, overmolding, surface mount technology (SMT) and epoxy encapsulation
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (i.e., creating graphs and charts, using formulas, creating V-look ups, and filtering information)
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities
- Ability to learn quickly with minimal direction
- Available to work full time during the summer months with the possibility of working part time during the school year

Pay Range: $22.50 - $26/hour
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
