General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity in Poway, CA (San Diego, CA) for an Antenna Engineer to join the RF/Antenna Engineering group. The successful candidate will lead a small, multi-disciplined team of engineers engaged in the development of active electronically scanned antenna arrays to support airborne synthetic aperture and collision avoidance radars. Major areas include overall project technical leadership, system-level design, maturation of hardware from prototype to flight-qualified, coordination with various radar product teams, and interfacing with customers and senior management. This position will require leading a team that covers technical backgrounds in RF and mixed signal design, signal processing, FPGAs, power management, firmware, software, and mechanical design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform as the Principal Investigator (PI) for phased antenna array systems.
- Lead or participate in proposal preparation and technical analysis in support of new business activities.
- Determine and manage system requirements.
- Develop test programs and analysis for requirements verification.
- Prepare and present statprogress reports, PDR & CDR presentations, and formal proposals to executive level personnel and customers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the radar product teams.
- Investigate new technologies and applications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Perform as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for company-wide antenna-related concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; eighteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, sixteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or thirteen or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Must have a strong understanding of system level design, both hardware and software, particularly with regards to phased antenna array systems.
- Must have familiarity with advanced adaptive array processing algorithms and other signal processing techniques.
- Must have experience in project leadership and possess the ability to organize, plan, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines.
- Must have proficiency with electromagnetic analysis software such as HFSS, FEKO or CST.
- Must have proficiency with AWR or ADS microwave circuit simulators.
- Must have familiarity with antenna measurement techniques (anechoic chamber, outdoor range, near field scanners).
- Must have the ability to manipulate data, perform analysis, and generate data visualization products in MATLAB or Python.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment.
- Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. (Active Security Clearance preferred)
