Overview
The EA Tool Consultant is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of enterprise architecture (EA) tooling to support strategic planning, governance, and decision-making. This role ensures the EA tool (e.g., Ardoq) is effectively aligned with the organization’s enterprise architecture framework, standards, and operating model, enabling accurate, actionable, and scalable architectural insights across business and IT domains.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Certification(s)
- TOGAF certification preferred. Ardoq certification or demonstrated advanced experience with EA tools strongly preferred. Additional certifications in SAFe, ArchiMate, ITIL, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) are a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and customization of enterprise architecture tools, with a primary focus on Ardoq.
- Design and maintain EA repositories, metamodels, taxonomies, and relationships aligned to enterprise architecture standards and frameworks.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Business Architects, and stakeholders to translate architectural requirements into effective tool configurations.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, visualizations, reports, and heatmaps to support executive decision-making, governance, and portfolio management.
- Support Architecture Review Boards (ARB/TRB) by ensuring architectural data is accurate, current, and easily consumable.
- Integrate EA tooling with adjacent systems such as CMDBs, PPM tools, Jira, ServiceNow, and data sources via APIs, imports, or automation.
- Establish best practices, standards, and governance processes for EA tool usage across the organization.
- Provide training, documentation, and enablement for architects and contributors using the EA tool.
- Support data quality management, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of EA artifacts.
Skills and Competencies
- The candidate must possess well-developed and demonstrated skills including:
- Deep hands-on experience with enterprise architecture tools, particularly Ardoq
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, ArchiMate, capability-based planning)
- Experience designing EA metamodels, relationships, and architectural views
- Ability to translate business and technical concepts into structured architectural data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data quality and consistency
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with data integration, APIs, and automation related to EA tools
Candidate Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or EA tooling roles
- Proven experience implementing and operating EA tools in a medium to large enterprise environment
- Demonstrated success supporting EA governance, portfolio management, or strategic planning initiatives
- Consulting or advisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or government is a plus
