Description Your role at GEI. As an IT DevOps Engineer for GEI, you will serve as a technical and subject matter expert in the implementation, maintenance and optimization of the organization's IT infrastructure and systems with a strong focus on supporting DevOps processes. This role bridges traditional IT operations and modern software development practices, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure environments for continuous integration, deployment, and delivery. You must be able to establish, maintain and increase user satisfaction through professional, courteous and thoughtful organizational collaboration and support.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties - Provide administration for all aspects of IT Infrastructure operations including servers, Active Directory, group policy, MS 365, security, cloud services, firewalls, VPN, routing, switching, network segmentation, wireless, backups, IPSec and content filtering.
- Design, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual server environments, storage solutions, and network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement and support CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability for production and staging environments.
- Automate system provisioning, configuration, and deployment using scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
- Maintain security best practices, including system hardening, vulnerability management, and access controls.
- Support cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.), including migration, maintenance, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Implement and manage containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) to support DevOps workflows.
- Develop and document operational procedures, technical guides, and system architecture diagrams.
- Respond to incidents, outages, and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements to systems and processes.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in IT architecture, systems integration, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, data management, cybersecurity, and application development.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux server administration.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls).
- Experience with container orchestration systems (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (Prometheus, ELK Stack, Splunk).
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps culture and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy
- Strong understanding of VMware environment
- Understanding of IT Security Controls (NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC-2 or equivalent)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
- Strong documentation abilities
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and travel when required
- Certifications in relevant technologies (AWS, Azure, Linux, DevOps, etc.) a plus
