Job Description

Position: Field Service Engineer – Water Treatment

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong background in water treatment systems, electro-mechanical equipment, electrical controls, PLCs, and instrumentation. This role will support installation, commissioning, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer service for water treatment systems at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on existing and new water treatment plants.
  • Work with Reverse Osmosis (RO), EDI, Filtration, Ion Exchange, UV, Ozone, WFI, and Pure Steam systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, motors, control panels, and other electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues remotely and at customer sites.
  • Work with PLC systems, I/O cards, electrical control panels, instrumentation, and plant automation.
  • Tune control loops and program/configure instrumentation as required.
  • Perform water quality testing using Hach DR900, Myron L pH/conductivity meters, hardness testing kits, pH kits, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, circuit diagrams, component lists, spare parts lists, functional logic, and system documentation.
  • Complete Preventive, Quality and Maintenance Checklists (PQMC) and maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Prepare and submit internal documentation and customer service reports.
  • Provide startup and commissioning support for new water treatment systems.
  • Complete commissioning documentation and communicate system status to customers.
  • Interface directly with customers and end users while providing professional technical support.
  • Work independently in the field and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support Level 1 and Level 2 Field Service Engineering activities and training requirements.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5–10 years of experience working with electro-mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, and related systems.
  • 5–10 years of system maintenance experience.
  • 3–6 years of experience with electrical control panels, PLCs, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Experience with control loop tuning and instrumentation programming/configuration.
  • 3–6 years of experience in the water treatment industry.
  • Hands-on experience with RO, EDI, filtration, ion exchange, UV, ozone, WFI, or pure steam systems.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and functional logic.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office/computer applications.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally throughout North America.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings/weekends and short-notice travel.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment when required and remain on your feet for most of the workday.
