DevOps Engineer role in Prince Edward Island, Canada

The successful resource(s) will be required to provide the services and deliverables associated with the work set forth in this directed by province.

The scope of these services may include, but are not limited to:

 Monitoring, maintaining, configuring, supporting, and optimizing web-based middleware solutions to ensure the security, stability and scalability of the Province’s web API framework;

 Assisting the Province in integrating the API Framework with the MuleSoft Enterprise Integration Platform;

 Working with other team members to improve the CI Pipeline, including oversight of automated tests, review of Jenkins, etc.;

 Working with other team members to build software releases from multiple development project streams and manage multiple-tier deployment environments;

 Setting up and maintaining the Kubernetes cluster;

 Researching and applying patches and upgrades to software;

 Implementing and using monitoring software such as SolarWinds, Grafana, and Prometheus; and

 Completing other tasks as assigned by the Province.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

The successful resource(s) will provide the requested services, for the completion of the deliverables as set out in this SOW, and as directed by the Province.

These deliverables include, but are not limited to:

DELIVERABLE : DevOps Programmer Services

DESCRIPTION : Using in scope services to provide support and enhance the foundational elements used to provide public digital services which includes:

 Drupal Content Management System;

 API Framework;

 Small Apps generator;

 Alfresco;

 Kubernetes;

 Docker; and

 Payment Gateway.

QUALIFICATIONS

The resource(s) must meet or exceed the experience requirements as set out in this SOW and its attachments.

The resource(s) must possess:

 Demonstrated experience of ten (10) years, in:

o Java;

o Relational databases such as MySQL;

o Version control using Git;

o Automation servers such as Jenkins;

o OS such as Ubuntu;

o Shell scripts, such as Bash;

o Development and use of APIs and API Gateways;

o Web servers such as Apache;

o Load Balancers and reverse proxies, such as Nginx;

o Load testing, load balancing, performance test, automated testing and

o Use and support container software.

 Experience with software installation, configuration, and system administration;

 Experience with Docker;

 Experience setting up and maintaining the Kubernetes cluster;

 Experience investigating and resolving issues affecting web services and applications;

 Knowledge of software patch management and deployment best practices;

 Experience participating in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for web application development and support;

 Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills; and

 Demonstrated ability as a highly self-motivated and directed with experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and working on project teams.

Experience in the following is considered an asset:

 Experience working the Province;

 Experience working with government organizations;

 Drupal Content Management System module development;

 Load testing, load balancing, performance test, and automated testing;

 Development of black boxes;

 DNS Services; and

 Transport layer security.
