Web Designer / Developer

Oscar is partnering with a highly successful web development agency that is looking for an experienced Web Designer & Developer to join their team.

They're seeking a skilled digital professional with deep expertise in Shopify, including hands-on experience with Liquid or CSS, and a strong understanding of how modern websites are built and maintained. You'll play a key role in managing client relationships, keeping projects on track, and actively contributing to front-end development-particularly within Shopify themes and customizations ensuring everything delivered is clean, polished, and high-performing.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, confident working with clients, and technically proficient especially when it comes to Shopify development, theme customization, and front-end styling using Liquid or CSS while also having a solid grasp of website design, light technical work, and ongoing site management.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the daily progress of website projects


• Work extensively within Shopify, including builds, updates, feature implementation, and customizations


• Apply working knowledge of tools and concepts such as cookies, WCAG standards, CSS, GitHub, and Liquid (plus exposure to modern front-end frameworks)


• Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, ensuring clear and effective communication


• Keep projects organized, on schedule, and detail-oriented


• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including leadership, designers, developers, and clients


• Proactively identify potential challenges and help develop solutions


• Contribute to front-end development tasks using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed


• Configure and troubleshoot Shopify themes, apps, settings, and metafields


• Partner with developers to maintain clean, scalable, and well-structured builds

Qualifications

• In-depth experience with Shopify, including themes, apps, Liquid, and platform capabilities


• 3-6 years of experience across web design, development, and/or project management


• Strong front-end knowledge with a clear understanding of what creates an effective website


• Experience working with custom CMS platforms


• Confident communicator who can explain ideas clearly without relying on technical jargon


• Solid understanding of user experience and user behavior online


• Highly organized while maintaining a flexible, practical approach to workflows


• Proactive, solution-driven mindset with a willingness to take initiative


• Ability to balance creativity with analytical thinking

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility


• Experience front-end coding skills


• Experience with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite


• Basic understanding of SEO and website performance optimization


• Familiarity with GitHub


• Some exposure to back-end development concepts

Role Overview

• Location: Manhattan, New York (Hybrid)


• Employment Type: Full-time, permanent


• Salary: $105,000 - $120,000 annually, based on experience
