Job Title: Senior AVEVA/OSIsoft PI Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior AVEVA/OSIsoft PI Administrator to manage, optimize, and support enterprise-wide AVEVA PI System infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PI System administration, high availability, performance tuning, security, upgrades, and integration with enterprise applications. This role will partner with Operations, OT, IT, Engineering, and Data Analytics teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of critical industrial data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain the AVEVA PI System environment, including:
  • Design and maintain highly available and disaster recovery (HA/DR) PI environments.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and migrate PI System components.
  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize data collection and retrieval.
  • Configure and manage PI Interfaces, Connectors, OPC UA/DA, MQTT, Modbus, and other industrial protocols.
  • Develop and maintain PI AF databases, templates, analyses, event frames, and notifications.
  • Support PI Vision dashboard development and reporting requirements.
  • Integrate PI System with enterprise platforms including SCADA, Historian, MES, ERP, Azure, AWS, SQL Server, Power BI, and analytics solutions.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices for OT/IT environments, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and certificate management.
  • Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning.
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to onboard new assets and data sources.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Provide Level 3 support, root cause analysis, and participate in on-call rotation when required.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience administering AVEVA/OSIsoft PI Systems.
  • Strong experience with:
    • PI Data Archive
    • PI Asset Framework (AF)
    • PI Vision
    • PI Analysis Service
    • PI Notifications
    • PI Interfaces and Connectors
    • PI Integrator
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Kerberos, and Windows authentication.
  • Expertise in high availability, failover clustering, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC DA/UA, MQTT, Modbus, and BACnet.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Experience with PowerShell and/or Python automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of Industrial IoT (IIoT) architectures.
  • Experience integrating PI System with Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, or cloud-based analytics.
  • Experience supporting regulated industries such as Energy, Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, or Oil & Gas.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, or NERC CIP.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management experience.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior team members.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

  • AVEVA PI System implementation experience.
  • Experience with enterprise data historians.
  • Knowledge of data governance and industrial data management.
  • Exposure to AI/ML or predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
