Job Description:
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced PKI Project Manager to provide project leadership, coordination, and technical-domain support for an enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) initiative. This individual will help drive the project through its remaining implementation milestones, transition from vendor Professional Services into ongoing Support/Operations, and establish a sustainable operating model for the PKI environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong Project Manager with prior exposure to PKI implementations, cybersecurity, identity/access management, infrastructure, or related security technologies. This is not intended to be a hands-on PKI engineering position; however, the individual must possess enough PKI knowledge to understand the terminology, dependencies, technical discussions, and challenges associated with an enterprise PKI implementation.
This person will work closely with the Security Operations team, the dedicated PKI Administrator, internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors to maintain momentum, manage dependencies, resolve roadblocks, and ensure critical milestones are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Delivery
• Lead day-to-day project management activities for the enterprise PKI initiative.
• Develop, maintain, and manage project plans, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and target dates.
• Track progress against established implementation and transition milestones.
• Identify risks, blockers, and dependencies and proactively drive them toward resolution.
• Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, status reviews, and vendor discussions.
• Maintain clear documentation of decisions, action items, ownership, and due dates.
• Provide concise and consistent project status reporting to Security leadership and key stakeholders.
• Help ensure project activities remain aligned with contractual timelines and organizational priorities.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
• Serve as a key liaison between internal Security teams, the PKI Administrator, third-party Professional Services, and vendor Support.
• Coordinate vendor activities and ensure commitments, deliverables, and outstanding actions are clearly tracked.
• Support the transition of responsibilities from Professional Services into the vendor's ongoing support organization.
• Facilitate communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Escalate risks, delays, or unresolved vendor dependencies when necessary.
• Ensure knowledge, decisions, and outstanding responsibilities are appropriately captured during the transition to steady-state operations.
PKI Administrator Support & Operational Transition
• Partner closely with the newly onboarded PKI Administrator as they continue to ramp up within the environment.
• Provide PKI domain context and guidance where appropriate while allowing the administrator to remain focused on technical responsibilities.
• Help coordinate questions and issues requiring input from vendors, internal SMEs, or other technical teams.
• Support knowledge transfer from Professional Services to the internal PKI Administrator.
• Help define ownership, support processes, responsibilities, and handoffs as the PKI environment transitions into an operational model.
• Identify gaps that could impact GFS's ability to independently operate and support the PKI environment.
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience managing complex IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity, or security technology projects.
• Prior experience working with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) projects, implementations, migrations, or operational environments.
• Working knowledge of PKI concepts, terminology, processes, and dependencies.
• Experience coordinating technical projects involving third-party vendors and/or Professional Services organizations.
• Strong project planning, milestone tracking, risk management, dependency management, and issue-resolution skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with security engineers, administrators, vendors, managers, and leadership.
• Experience transitioning technology implementations from project/Professional Services phases into ongoing operations and support.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to bring structure and accountability to projects with multiple moving parts.
• Ability to quickly understand an existing project, assess its current state, and begin driving execution without requiring extensive ramp-up time.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting enterprise PKI or certificate-management environments.
• Background in cybersecurity, Security Operations, IAM, network security, infrastructure, or related disciplines.
• Experience working alongside PKI administrators, security engineers, network engineers, or identity teams.
• Experience with certificate lifecycle management, certificate authorities, digital certificates, encryption, key management, or related PKI concepts.
• Experience managing projects with external security vendors and transitioning from Professional Services to Support.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and tools such as Jira is beneficial, although this role is primarily focused on project management and milestone delivery rather than Scrum facilitation.
