Summary

Job Description

A leading financial organization is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to serve as a hands-on technical leader and day-to-day owner of IT infrastructure and operations. This role will play a critical part in maintaining the stability, reliability, and security of a high-touch corporate technology environment, supporting both on-premises and cloud infrastructure across multiple sites.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you'll take ownership of Windows and Microsoft cloud infrastructure while also supporting Linux systems, endpoints, networking, and enterprise applications. You'll work closely with Engineering Management and senior engineers on onsite execution, troubleshoot complex issues across hybrid environments, establish operational best practices, and create the documentation and structure needed to support a growing IT organization.

This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys being highly hands-on while also taking ownership of processes, mentoring junior team members, and improving the overall quality of IT operations. The ideal candidate brings deep Microsoft expertise, strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, and the judgment and service orientation required to support executive users and demanding enterprise environments.

This is a full-time, exempt position based in New York City. The role offers the opportunity to work in a sophisticated financial services environment where reliability, security, responsiveness, and a high level of technical ownership are essential.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a similar IT role
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of certifications and progressive infrastructure experience
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and core infrastructure services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, DFS, WSUS, Hyper-V, and Terminal Services
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Azure, including Entra ID, Azure Storage, Enterprise Applications, Azure Networking, and Virtual Machines
  • Strong proficiency with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office products
  • Experience administering Linux environments, including Debian and Fedora
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across endpoints, servers, applications, networks, and infrastructure
  • Experience managing multi-domain forests, multiple sites, and hybrid Active Directory environments
  • Experience with endpoint management and device security solutions
  • Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages
  • Experience with enterprise WiFi systems such as Aruba
  • Knowledge of networking and security fundamentals
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of ownership and accountability
  • Calm and composed under pressure with strong situational judgment
  • Service-oriented mindset with a high-touch approach to executive and end-user support
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud
  • Experience supporting financial services or another highly demanding enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and financial services controls
  • Experience establishing IT troubleshooting, ticketing, escalation, and operational best practices
  • Experience creating SOPs, runbooks, technical documentation, and infrastructure standards
  • Strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing skills with the ability to develop junior IT team members
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking and wireless infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of root-cause analysis and proactive problem solving
  • Experience working in high-touch corporate environments supporting executives and senior stakeholders
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
  • Administer Windows and Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
  • Manage Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, DFS, WSUS, Hyper-V, and Terminal Services
  • Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure infrastructure, including Entra ID, Storage, Enterprise Applications, Azure Networking, and Virtual Machines
  • Support Windows 10/11 endpoints and Microsoft Office productivity tools
  • Administer endpoint management and device security platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
  • Support multi-site, multi-domain, and hybrid Active Directory environments
  • Provide phone, email, chat, and remote technical assistance as needed
  • Establish and maintain best practices for troubleshooting, ticket handling, and escalation
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks
  • Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and feedback to junior team members
  • Support enterprise WiFi infrastructure, including Aruba environments
  • Apply networking and security fundamentals to daily infrastructure operations
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative solutions to reduce recurring issues
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives
  • Coordinate with the Head of IT on principal and residential technology needs as appropriate
  • Participate in an on-call escalation rotation as required
  • Maintain a high-touch, professional end-user experience across the organization
