Safety Manager (Commercial Construction) - Contract-to-Hire

Location: Chandler, AZ
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Environment: 100% Onsite
TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support active commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing safety programs while promoting a strong safety culture across the jobsite. The ideal candidate will have a strong construction safety experience, extensive OSHA knowledge, and experience working in fast-paced commercial construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

  • Enforce company safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety requirements.

Jobsite Inspections & Hazard Identification

  • Conduct daily safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective actions.
  • Verify proper PPE usage across the jobsite.
  • Monitor high-risk work activities, including:
    • Fall protection
    • Scaffolding
    • Trenching and excavation
    • Confined spaces
    • Crane and rigging operations

Incident Prevention & Response

  • Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations.
  • Document findings and implement corrective and preventative measures.
  • Support emergency response procedures and coordinate medical response when necessary.

Training & Safety Engagement

  • Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Maintain training records and certification documentation.
  • Foster employee engagement and accountability through ongoing safety initiatives.

Subcontractor Safety Management

  • Review subcontractor safety documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for site safety standards.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and address safety concerns proactively.
  • Issue safety notices and recommend stop-work actions when warranted.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records for inspections, incidents, corrective actions, and safety meetings.
  • Prepare reports for project leadership.
  • Assist during OSHA, owner, and third-party audits and inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Current OSHA 500 Certification (Required)
  • Current OSHA 10 Certification (Required)
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an onsite Safety Coordinator or Safety Manager in commercial construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • Ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Experience in low-voltage, telecommunications, data center, or technology infrastructure projects.
  • Experience using safety management and reporting software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated or confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel between project locations when required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
