Position Summary
StaffRight Associates is looking for a Systems Solution Engineer to serve as the critical technical link between our client s engineering departments and their customer base. In this role, you will own the technical lifecycle of advanced transportation technologies, specifically focusing on IP-based Passenger Information Systems (PIS) and CCTV for Rolling Stock and Bus fleets.
You aren t just an engineer; you are a consultant and integrator who ensures complex electronic systems are designed, validated, and deployed to meet real-world transit demands.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Consulting: Act as the lead technical interface for customers, translating complex operational requirements into scalable, engineered solutions.
System Architecture & Integration: Design and deploy integrated electronic suites, including:
IP-based Data Networks & Passenger Counting
Public Address (PA) & Passenger Information Systems (PIS)
CCTV & Security Surveillance
Project Lifecycle Leadership: Guide systems from initial concept through hardware/software integration, validation, and final commissioning.
Collaborative Design: Partner with R&D, Mechanical, and Electrical teams to ensure hardware and software align with customer specifications.
Documentation & Agile Support: Maintain rigorous technical documentation and utilize JIRA to track tasks within an Agile framework.
Training & Field Support: Lead workshops and design reviews; provide both remote and on-site technical training and troubleshooting.
Candidate Requirements
Industry Pedigree: Proven track record of delivering technical projects within Automotive, Aeronautics, or Large-Scale Industrial sectors.
Mobility: Ability to travel across North America (including overnights/weekends) and occasionally internationally.
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: 3 - 5 years in Systems Engineering or a high-level technical integration role.
Networking: Deep knowledge of IP networking configuration and setup.
Hardware: Strong command of electronic hardware and embedded systems.
AV & Streaming: Expertise in VoIP, SIP, RTSP, and H.264 compression technologies.
Preferred: Prior experience in Rail or Mobility technology environments.
Communication: The ability to explain the how to technical teams and the why to non-technical customers.
Problem Solving: A structured, analytical approach to troubleshooting in complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
Autonomy: Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
