Department Overview
Motorola's Access Control Division's (previously OpenPath, now Avigilon Alta) mission is to improve your workday with smart office technology at your front door. We are looking for candidates who can help us build, scale and innovate as we develop our industry leading platform for access control and office automation. Strong analytical and software skills are a must in order to join our team, and we are particularly seeking candidates with experience and skills in multiple technologies, in order to contribute broadly to our team-centric approach to product development.

Our Dev Ops/Infrastructure Reliability team addresses a wide range of engineering tasks including support, analysis and improvement of the fleet of devices and their supporting services and deployment processes.
Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineering, Co-op to help us expand customer-facing products and improve out operational excellence in supporting a fleet of thousands of IoT devices. As part of this time, you will help develop tools that help engineers release, verify and track software changes across the entire fleet worldwide.

The project will involve:
  • Automating the verification process to allow specific analysis of a software release and measure its effects on operational performance
  • Create an integration to AI services allowing easier automation of software lifecycle, tracking of changes withing the lifecycle, ensuring coordination between engineering, test and release teams
  • Assist with creating and extending tools for gathering key metrics
  • Ensuring tools operate smoothly at scale.
  • This role provides an excellent opportunity to work with both Python and Go, while learning how to handle complex, large-scale data pipelines and IoT systems.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with Python programming (either through coursework or previous projects).
  • Familiarity with Go or interest in learning Go to extend existing Python-based tools.
  • Experience with databases, both relational and NoSQL.
  • Basic understanding of unit tests and familiarity with testing frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and web technologies (RESTful APIs are a plus).
  • Experience or familiarity with IoT devices and systems is a bonus.
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Bonus Skills (Optional):
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.).
  • Understanding of performance optimization and scalability in distributed systems.
  • Exposure to version control systems (Git).
  • Experience with using AI tooling to develop sustainable code.

Basic Requirements
  • Pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
