Summary

ROLE OVERVIEW

For a large-scale, heavily customized Adobe Commerce (Magento) platform with deep integrations across ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM, subscription billing, tax, and search/marketing systems, supporting multiple product lines and subscription-based offerings. As a Senior Applied AI Engineer on the AI POD, you will design, build, and deploy novel AI-powered applications that extend and enhance the client's Adobe Commerce platform and surrounding systems — using the client's approved AI/ML frameworks and governance standards. This role sits at the intersection of applied machine learning, software engineering, and e-commerce, turning promising AI capabilities into production-grade features.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML-powered applications and features that integrate with Adobe Commerce and adjacent enterprise systems.

• Build and productionize models and AI workflows (e.g., recommendation, search relevance, content generation, intelligent automation) using client-approved frameworks and infrastructure.

• Collaborate with product, data science, and platform engineering teams to identify high-value AI use cases and translate them into shippable applications.

• Build robust APIs and services to expose AI capabilities to the Adobe Commerce storefront and internal tools.

• Implement monitoring, evaluation, and guardrails to ensure AI features are reliable, safe, and aligned with client governance/compliance requirements.

• Write well-tested, production-grade code following TDD principles — unit, integration, and evaluation tests for models, pipelines, and the services that expose them.

• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (Docker) for AI services, and help troubleshoot production issues end-to-end.

• Stay current with the client's approved AI/ML framework roadmap and contribute to internal best practices and reusable components; mentor other engineers adopting AI tooling.

• Participate in code reviews, technical design, and estimation within an Agile delivery model.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2–3 years focused on applied AI/ML in production environments.

• Strong programming skills in Python (and/or PHP/JavaScript for integration work), with experience building production-grade, well-tested services.

• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML applications using modern frameworks (e.g., LLM orchestration frameworks, vector databases, or classical ML pipelines) within an enterprise-approved tool stack.

• Experience integrating AI services with e-commerce or similar transactional platforms via APIs (REST/GraphQL).

• Solid understanding of MLOps fundamentals — model deployment, versioning, monitoring, and performance evaluation — plus standard engineering DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD, Docker, cloud hosting on AWS/Azure).

• Experience working within an enterprise governance framework for AI (approved tools, data handling, security/compliance review).

• Comfort working alongside Adobe Commerce/Magento engineers to connect AI capabilities to a live commerce platform.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Direct experience with Adobe Commerce (Magento) or other major commerce platforms.

• Experience with LLM-based application development (RAG, agentic workflows, prompt engineering) in a regulated or enterprise setting.

• Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI).

• Experience in legal, tax, compliance, finance, or other regulated B2B/B2G industries.

• Exposure performance monitoring/profiling tools (New Relic, Blackfire) and microservices architecture.

• Comfort mentoring other developers and contributing to engineering best practices beyond your own feature work.

LOCATION, WORK AUTHORIZATION & ENGAGEMENT

• Location: Remote-friendly with regular overlap for standups, sprint ceremonies, and cross-team collaboration during US business hours.

• Background check and client-specific security/compliance screening required prior to start.
