Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Payments Project Manager with 8+ years of overall IT experience and strong Project/Program Management experience in Banking and Payments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Payments technology programs/projects, strong knowledge of the payment-processing lifecycle, and experience delivering initiatives in a high-volume Commercial Banking Payments environment.
The candidate should be comfortable managing cross-functional technology teams, driving Agile delivery, coordinating dependencies and risks, and communicating project status and escalations to senior stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Payments technology initiatives, from planning and requirements through implementation and production rollout.
- Manage project scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, issues, resources, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate across Business, Product, Architecture, Development, QA, Infrastructure, Operations, and vendor teams.
- Drive governance meetings, status reporting, RAID management, dependency tracking, and executive/client communications.
- Partner with Business Analysts and Product teams to ensure business requirements and payment-processing needs are translated into executable delivery plans.
- Coordinate application, integration, testing, certification, deployment, and production-readiness activities.
- Identify delivery risks and blockers proactively and drive them to closure.
- Manage Agile ceremonies, release planning, deliverables, and cross-team dependencies.
- Provide concise project health, milestone, risk, and escalation reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Manage distributed onsite/offshore technology teams and ensure effective coordination across delivery functions.
- Support payment modernization and transformation initiatives within a complex enterprise technology environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall IT experience.
- 7–10 years of Project/Program Management experience, preferably within Banking or Financial Services.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Payments programs/projects.
- Strong knowledge of the payment-processing lifecycle and payment systems.
- Proven experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and project governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, risk management, dependency management, and executive reporting skills.
- Experience managing distributed onsite/offshore technology teams.
- Good understanding of enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, databases, and production environments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Payments Domain Knowledge
- ISO 20022
- ACH / Wire / Real-Time Payments
- SWIFT and payment messaging
- Commercial Banking Payments
- Payment processing, reconciliation, exceptions, and settlement
- Payment modernization/transformation programs
Technical Environment
Experience or understanding of the following is highly relevant:
- Java / Spring Boot
- Oracle / Databases
- APIs and enterprise integrations
- Infrastructure and production environments
- Payment processing systems
Commercial Banking Payments Context
The role supports a Commercial Banking Payments environment involving high-volume payment processing. Experience working with complex payment ecosystems and coordinating across application development, databases, infrastructure, testing, deployment, and production teams will be highly valuable.
