Senior Java Developer / Application SME

Seeking a Lead Senior Java Developer / Application SME to take ownership of an application portfolio. This is a hands-on full-stack role requiring strong Java, SQL, Angular, and AI experience, combined with technical leadership, strong business communication, and the ability to proactively identify and drive solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE enterprise application development
• Experience as a Technical Lead, Application SME, Application Lead, or similar role
• Experience owning or supporting enterprise applications
• Strong business communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to track applications, issues, action items, dependencies, and deliverables
• Experience providing clear status updates and communication to leadership and business stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to seek out and drive solutions
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple applications and competing technical issues

Back-End

• Core Java including multi-threading, Executor framework, concurrency patterns, and performance optimization
• Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate, MyBatis
• RESTful web services and microservices architecture
• JBoss and/or Apache Tomcat
• Strong SQL experience including complex queries, stored procedures, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• XML/XSLT, JSON

Front-End

• Angular 14+ component architecture, reactive forms, RxJS, routing, and Spring Boot REST API integration
• TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, AJAX
• JSP, JSTL

AI Development

• Hands-on experience using AI tools in software development, including coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or code review
• GitHub Copilot in Agent mode active use required
• Experience with AI/LLM tools, APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, or AI-enabled application development preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• P&C insurance domain experience
• Experience supporting a large enterprise application portfolio
• JVM and database performance tuning
• AWS experience or certifications
