Overview


The Mobility Engineering team provides secure, scalable, and efficient management of macOS, iOS, Android, and ChromeOS devices across a large enterprise environment. As organizations increasingly adopt cloud managed Apple platforms, there is a growing need for advanced engineering expertise in modern device management, automation, identity integration, and mobility architecture.


This role outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for a Senior Mobility & macOS Engineering Specialist who will enhance, support, and expand these enterprise mobility capabilities.


Objectives


The goal of this position is to design, implement, and maintain cloud based management solutions for Apple and mobile devices. This includes ensuring strong security configurations, automating workflows, enabling cross platform integrations, and supporting alignment with enterprise architecture and security frameworks.


Scope of Work


Technical Engineering & Automation



  • Configure, optimize, and support cloud based management infrastructure for macOS using enterprise-grade tools.

  • Automate workflows using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, AppleScript, and APIs.

  • Build modular and reusable scripting libraries tailored to Apple ecosystem needs.

  • Automate compliance checks, software deployments, patching routines, and operational reporting.


Device & Platform Management



  • Manage macOS, iOS, Android, and ChromeOS endpoints across multiple device management platforms.

  • Support zero touch provisioning, automated enrollment workflows, and device setup experiences.

  • Configure network, VPN, Wi Fi, certificate based authentication, and related security profiles.


Troubleshooting & Tier 3 Support



  • Diagnose complex issues affecting Apple and mobile platforms, including integration with enterprise systems.

  • Conduct log analysis, system diagnostics, packet captures, and network troubleshooting.

  • Act as a Tier 3 escalation resource and technical expert for mobility-related incidents.


Architecture & Cross Functional Engagement



  • Apply systems engineering and architectural methodologies to ensure mobility platforms integrate smoothly with heterogeneous environments (e.g., Windows, Linux).

  • Partner with Security, Networking, Support, and Operations teams to implement standards and governance.

  • Contribute to technology evaluations, roadmaps, and platform wide improvements.


Documentation & Reporting



  • Produce technical documentation, SOPs, and user friendly onboarding or instructional materials.

  • Build dashboards, analytics, and reports using enterprise reporting tools.

  • Deliver recurring operational metrics, compliance summaries, and service performance insights.


Deliverables



  • Automated scripts, libraries, and deployment workflows for macOS and mobile device management.

  • Security and configuration profiles, policies, and compliance frameworks.

  • Technical documentation, troubleshooting references, and onboarding guides.

  • Monthly or quarterly KPI and compliance reporting packages.

  • Recommendations for standards, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.




Required Qualifications


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.


Experience



  • 10+ years designing, engineering, and managing enterprise mobility platforms such as Apple MDM, unified endpoint management solutions, or cross platform device systems.

  • 5+ years of hands on experience with modern macOS versions and Apple device management ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated expertise supporting macOS, iOS, and mobile operating systems, including log and packet level diagnostics.

  • Experience with identity integrations, certificate management, security tooling, and enterprise networking technologies.


Certifications



  • JAMF Certified (Level 300/370 or 400).

  • Intune or other MDM Administrator certification.


Required Skills & Competencies



  • Expert knowledge of Apple and mobile device configuration, software distribution, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross team collaboration abilities.

  • Solid project management and technical planning skills.

  • Understanding of mobile application lifecycle, enterprise security standards, and compliance benchmarks.

  • Ability to operate effectively within large, diverse, and fast paced technical organizations.
