ApTask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an IT Engineer for an onsite position with a Leading Technology Solutions Provider located in Santa Clara, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. Summary: This role is responsible for developing and building the infrastructure supporting IT equipment in our client's offices and labs. The engineer will partner with facility and business stakeholder team members on construction projects, manage low voltage construction, and own the ongoing support of network rooms within their region.
Responsibilities: - Serve as the construction engineering lead, partnering with facility and end-user stakeholders to define needs
- Engage with network and Audiovisual engineers and document their infrastructure requirements
- Define locations for equipment within network rooms and produce construction documents and specifications for low voltage contractors
- Act as the technical stakeholder for low voltage bidding and contractor selection
- Regularly walk construction projects and provide site reports with client feedback on work
- Record close-out and warranty documentation at project completion
- Document network rooms and their components within the asset management database system
- Track capacity of available ports, fiber plant, and PDU outlets within network rooms
- Configure and connect smart PDU/UPS, working with the monitoring team to provide alerting
- Assist with small initiatives by racking and cabling equipment
- Regularly audit IT environments to identify changes, cleaning up rooms and cabling
- Join with other engineering team members to continuously refine and develop infrastructure standards
Requirements: - Over 5+ years of working experience in related fields such as Telecommunications consulting, construction project management, or low-voltage cabling installation
- Understanding of network components and architectures
- Ability to work onsite and physically lift, install, and inspect components in a rack
- A strong affinity for technology and technical subjects
- Curious, creative, and constantly thinking about how to improve processes
- Ability to be proactive and work with minimal direction
- Good project management with excellent organizational skills
- Availability to work across different time zones to support global regions
Desired skills: - RCDD certification
- BS in Engineering or equivalent education/experience
- Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit) experience
- Bluebeam studio familiarity
Pay range: up to $46.42 per Hour
