Position Summary

Progressive Companies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as a technical leader for large-scale, complex building systems. This role focuses on the design and delivery of HVAC and Plumbing systems for high-impact projects, specifically within the distribution and logistics sector. As a subject matter expert, you will drive innovation, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure all designs align with Performance-Based Design principles.
Deliver Results
Design Leadership: Lead the development of comprehensive HVAC and Plumbing engineering designs and specifications for large-scale distribution centers and retail logistics facilities.
Project Lifecycle Oversight: Manage project delivery from initial concept through construction administration, including RFIs and submittals.
Strategic Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers to define scope, budget, and resource plans while coordinating with electrical and structural teams to ensure conflict-free integrated solutions.
Client Engagement: Act as the primary technical point of contact for high-profile online retail distribution clients, translating business needs into high-performance design strategies.
Compliance & QA/QC: Conduct rigorous code reviews and ensure all documentation meets QA/QC standards and regulatory requirements.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff to foster team growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
Experience: Approximately 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical building systems design.
Technical Expertise: Proven mastery in HVAC and Plumbing design for commercial or industrial facilities.
Industry Background: Specific experience with logistics, distribution centers, or warehouse infrastructure is highly preferred.
Stable Work History: A demonstrated track record of long-term tenure with previous employers (avoidance of "job jumping" every 1-2 years).
Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD to deliver high-quality design documentation.
Key Competencies
Expert knowledge of international building codes and mechanical/plumbing codes.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with business and technology teams.
Ability to conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for large-scale mission-critical infrastructure.
