Job Description:

L3Harris seeks skilled Software Engineers to join our System Software group, where you will architect next-generation, mission-critical solutions. Our team is responsible for developing the core software infrastructure that integrates advanced communications technologies across complex subsystems. Join us to tackle deep engineering challenges that directly enable national security and define the future operational capabilities of vital defense systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Knowledge and experience of embedded real-time software development (VxWorks/Linux).
  • Work closely with cross-functional team members to develop operational performance requirements, interface software and hardware components, and collaborate on system design.
  • Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing.
  • Contribute to software test plans, procedures, and other relevant technical documentation.
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
  • Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects.
  • Utilize a variety of software languages on Windows, Linux and embedded real time operating systems.

Requied Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in software development particularly utilizing object-oriented programming methodologies.
  • Strong C++ skills.
  • Experience with high performance and multi-threaded programming.
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn outside of core discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with C++.
  • Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets utilizing an RTOS (Real-Time Operating System).
  • Working knowledge of signal processing, control systems theory, or networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with key protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, IPSec, DDS, or SNMP.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Solid presentation and writing skills.
  • Previous professional experience working within the Department of Defense (DoD) or intelligence community.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
