Senior Java Backend Engineer - Reactive & Agentic AI

Job Description:
In this contingent resource assignment, candidates may:

• Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering.
• Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
• Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables.
• Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

• 4 plus years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 5 plus years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
• 4 plus years of Java experience, including proficiency in Spring / Spring Boot.
• 2 plus years of experience with Python, focused on backend or data-driven development.
• Deep understanding of Reactive Programming, including WebFlux.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Flink for stream processing and data pipelines.
• Database expertise with both MongoDB (NoSQL) and Oracle (RDBMS).
• 2 plus years of experience developing and using RESTful Application Program Interfaces (APIs).

• 3 plus years of experience with Cloud technologies.
• Exposure to LLMs (Large Language Models), agentic architectures, and prompt engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with ADK (Agent Development Kit), Playbook, or similar agentic frameworks.

• Past Sourcing Feedback / Candidate Profile Guidance
• Previous candidate pools included many individuals who did not have sufficiently relevant experience.
• Preference is for candidates with WF experience, ADK experience, or exposure to LLMs.
• Candidates without either WF experience or ADK/LLM exposure have generally not fared well during interviews or when being considered for potential offers.

• Rate: $110.00

• 12 months, with potential to extend up to 24 months and/or convert. Conversion capability is preferred but not required.
• The priority is finding the best-qualified candidate.

Pay Range: $XXX - $XXX

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
