Summary
Operations Project Manager — Cross-Functional Initiatives in Computational Drug Discovery
The Opportunity
Behind every large computational science effort sits operational work that is easy to underrate: information security, AI governance, data management and compliance, and quantitative analysis. This role keeps initiatives in those areas planned, coordinated, and delivered across an entire research group, so that organization-wide priorities become finished projects.
The company is a New York City–based organization that uses specialized, large-scale computing infrastructure and machine learning to study biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at the atomic level and to design highly selective therapeutics, through both internal and partnered programs.
What You’ll Do
- Formulate plans for operational projects that span the whole group, from initial scope through completion.
- Lead execution across information security, AI governance, data management and compliance, and quantitative analysis.
- Own the tracking of group-wide initiatives so progress and open items stay visible.
- Partner with teams across the organization on cross-functional planning and alignment.
- Investigate problems as they surface and resolve them independently.
- Prioritize among several concurrent efforts without losing sight of detail.
- Communicate status and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
What You Bring
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience in Project Management, including tracking and coordinating initiatives across a group and Cross-Functional Planning.
- A strong record of academic and professional achievement and exceptional intellectual ability; the client weighs these above prior depth in any one area, such as Data Management, AI Governance, or Information Security.
- Demonstrated skill in Stakeholder Management.
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organization.
- Ability to explain your reasoning clearly to experts and non-specialists alike.
- Resourcefulness, initiative, and sound problem solving when working independently.
- Capacity to handle several priorities at once.
Paths Into This Role
This role draws more on organizational judgment and intellectual range than on any single discipline. Candidates who coordinated complex, multi-person efforts during training in Operations Research, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, or Statistics will find much of that experience transfers directly. The two-year project management requirement still applies.
Compensation & Total Rewards
- Base salary: $150,000–$300,000 per year, with the final figure depending on factors such as the depth of a candidate’s previous experience and academic background.
- Variable pay: a sign-on bonus and year-end bonuses.
- Benefits: a generous program that includes support with relocation and immigration.
- Hybrid schedule: 3 Days in office, 2 days remote
