Senior Java Backend Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and enhance scalable, cloud-native, and high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive backend engineering experience, strong programming skills, and a solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native backend services.
• Build and support event-driven and asynchronous systems using Apache Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms.
• Engineer low-latency, high-throughput systems with strong resiliency and fault tolerance.
• Optimize performance for compute-intensive and data-intensive workloads.
• Collaborate with platform engineering, DevOps, and Front Office teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and production readiness assessments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Establish engineering standards, promote best practices, and mentor team members.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 12+ years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or similar backend programming languages.
• Extensive experience developing microservices and RESTful or asynchronous APIs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and scalability patterns.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Practical experience with event streaming and messaging technologies, particularly Apache Kafka or equivalent.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in complex, evolving technical environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building high-performance, low-latency backend applications.
• Experience working in financial services or enterprise technology environments.
• Familiarity with production monitoring, system reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience collaborating with DevOps, platform engineering, and business-facing technology teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical architecture decisions.
