Summary

Our client is a $9.3B AUM private credit investment firm providing bespoke credit solutions to stakeholders and management teams of U.S. middle market companies requiring capital support for growth, acquisitions, operational challenges, and financial distress.

They are seeking a full-time Software Engineer (Data), AI Platform to work fully onsite out of their Midtown Manhattan office. This reports to an awesome gentleman who we placed there directly.

Position Summary:
Our client has developed a production AI platform that supports the firm’s investment process, including automated investment memo generation, due diligence questionnaire (DDQ) automation, and retrieval systems over complex financial documents.

The Software Engineer will be an integral part of the team responsible for this platform, working alongside its lead engineer and directly with investment, investor relations, and operations professionals to design, build, deploy, and support production AI systems used across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
• Own and extend production AI systems, including the investment memo pipeline, due diligence questionnaire (DDQ) automation, and retrieval (RAG) infrastructure over financial documents
• Develop provenance tracking, source attribution, and review workflows that enable investment professionals to verify generated output against source documents
• Build and maintain the platform’s agent infrastructure, including harnesses, skills, subagents, and tool integrations
• Manage projects end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing production support
• Partner with investment, investor relations, and operations professionals to translate their workflows into reliable tools

Key Qualifications:
• 3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in one or more of Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Rust, or Go
• Hands-on experience with LLM application patterns, including agents, prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and evaluation frameworks
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) as a primary development mode, with strong judgment regarding verification of generated code
• Demonstrated record of independently designing, building, and shipping production software
• Experience in financial services or other document-heavy, compliance-sensitive domains preferred; experience with vector databases, document parsing, or Anthropic/OpenAI agent SDKs a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work directly with senior, non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative team player who is resourceful, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
