Summary

Job Summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Engineer Design Checker to support the Mechanical & Energetics team in Chandler, AZ. This role focuses on reviewing and validating engineering drawings and 3D models, ensuring compliance with industry and military standards, with strong expertise in GD&T and Siemens NX.

Key Responsibilities

Review and validate mechanical drawings and design packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Ensure designs meet requirements for fit, function, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
Perform tolerance analysis and verify hardware selection and assembly fitment
Validate 3D models using Siemens NX integrated with Teamcenter
Create and revise parametric drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards
Act as a GD&T subject matter expert, resolving interpretation issues
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
Interface with vendors to ensure manufacturability and design clarity
May provide guidance or supervision to junior staff

Required Skills (Must Have)

Strong experience with Siemens NX or CATIA (3D CAD tools)
Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with Teamcenter (PLM system)
Solid understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards
Experience reviewing mechanical drawings and assemblies
Knowledge of tolerance analysis and manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications

Aerospace or defense industry experience
Experience working with military/industry standards
Prior design checker or drafting validation experience
Leadership or mentoring experience
