Job DescriptionThe Engineering Supervisor will lead and supervise design teams in the development, review, and approval of engineering and construction packages for gas transmission facilities and major projects, ensuring compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include managing project schedules, training union and management personnel, monitoring staff performance, and conducting performance evaluations.
The Engineering Supervisor will maintain group calendars, on-call schedules, and SharePoint resources, while supporting as-constructed documentation in accordance with company, state, and federal requirements. This role will also oversee outside design vendors and contracts, coordinating engineering and design efforts with internal stakeholders. Additionally, the Engineering Supervisor requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to monitor the financial status of major gas transmission projects and support Transmission Maintenance operations as needed.
This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities- Supervise designers and contractors on major gas transmission, regulator station, and construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve engineering designs, project deliverables, and schedules.
- Conduct field visits and oversee project execution to support accurate design and construction.
- Represent Gas Engineering on internal and external committees, projects, and regulatory initiatives.
- Coordinate communications with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and maintain project status reporting.
- Manage engineering records, databases, SharePoint sites, and transmission documentation as Records Coordinator.
- Oversee training, operator qualifications, and other departmental programs and assignments.
QualificationsRequired Education/Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and two years of full time work experience in Engineering or Operations.
Relevant Work Experience- Minimum of two years of work experience in Engineering or Operations, required.
- Knowledge of computer applications, required.
- Supervisory experience, preferred.
Skills and Abilities- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
Licenses and Certifications- Driver's License Required
Physical Demands- Ability to read small print and symbols
Additional Physical Demands- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems.
- Travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies.
- Wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness.
- Able and willing to drive within Company service territory as needed.
- Able to work additional hours and or rotating shifts as operational needs and/or system emergencies dictate.
- Work in an office environment including sitting, bending and extensive computer work required.
- Able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
