Job Description:

Role: Full Stack Java Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid - 4 days/week onsite in SE Michigan

Duration: 12+ months

Description:

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications that meet customer and business needs. This role participates in the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack development expertise, a customer-centric mindset, and a passion for delivering scalable, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and end users to understand requirements, pain points, and business objectives while advocating for customer-focused solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise software applications using modern development frameworks and methodologies.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and recommend appropriate technology stacks, integration approaches, and deployment strategies.
  • Develop scalable software architecture, application design patterns, and technical solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Partner with product owners, architects, designers, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain responsive user interfaces and front-end applications using modern web technologies.
  • Develop and support back-end services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Implement and promote software engineering best practices, including test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Define and execute testing strategies to ensure application reliability, quality, and performance.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and maintainability through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support secure software development practices, including data protection, encryption, and privacy controls.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve development efficiency and solution capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Java (5+ years)
  • Spring Boot (4+ years)
  • PostgreSQL (3+ years)
  • MongoDB (3+ years)
  • GitHub and Git-based source control
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
  • Experience working within Agile development environments

Preferred Skills
  • Angular
  • React
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Neo4j Graph Database

Experience
  • 6+ years of overall IT experience
  • 4+ years of application development experience
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and practical experience across multiple technologies and frameworks
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications

Education

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred
  • Master's Degree in a related discipline

Additional Notes
  • Full-stack development experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience building cloud-native and API-driven applications is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
