Sr Node.js Developer

Introduction

The Digital API team is seeking a skilled Node.js/TypeScript expert to contribute to the design and development of domain-driven microservices for customer-facing digital experiences. The Sr Node.js Developer will be responsible for leading greenfield projects from conception to production, providing technical leadership to a team of engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and build domain-driven, event-aware microservices in Node.js/TypeScript
• Architect greenfield systems including service boundaries, data models, REST APIs, event streams, CI/CD, observability, and runtime topology
• Set API standards such as versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger, pagination, error contracts, and resiliency patterns
• Own production readiness by defining SLOs, dashboards, alerting, runbooks, and leading incident triage
• Collaborate with other teams to unblock work, sequence dependencies, and integrate releases
• Communicate effectively with leadership on project status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
• Conduct code reviews, promote engineering best practices, mentor team members, and contribute to tech talks and documentation
• Anticipate edge cases, scaling challenges, operability issues, and cost considerations, making recommendations for sequencing and trade-offs

Requirements

Required Skills

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience or equivalent impact
• 3+ years of technical leadership on product teams
• Expert-level proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript with experience delivering domain-driven microservices at scale
• Strong understanding of DDD, event-driven architectures, and microservice patterns
• Experience designing secure and resilient public APIs for web and mobile clients
• Knowledge of authN/authZ protocols like OAuth2/OIDC, secrets management, and TLS
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment, CI/CD, and observability tools
• Proven ability to lead triage/incident response and drive lasting improvements through RCA
• Excellent communication skills to simplify complex concepts and keep stakeholders aligned
• Strong bias for action, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality software

Preferred Skills

• Experience in telecom or large consumer digital platforms
• Knowledge of API gateways, rate limiting/quotas, and multi-tenant patterns
• Skills in performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization in cloud environments
