Role: Senior SQL Server DBA (L3)

Location: Farmington CT onsite 5 days

Role Summary

Lead design, administration, and optimization of enterprise SQL Server (2016 2022) environments. Act as L3 escalation, drive HA/DR, performance tuning, and cloud database strategy while mentoring junior DBAs.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, install, upgrade, and manage SQL Server environments at scale
• Design and support Always On Availability Groups (AOAG), failover, and DR strategies (RPO/RTO aligned)
• Handle advanced troubleshooting: blocking, deadlocks, high CPU/memory, IO bottlenecks, TempDB contention
• Lead performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
• Manage backup/restore, PITR, and DR drills
• Oversee capacity planning, storage, and disk forecasting
• Manage CDC and Transactional Replication
• Administer Azure SQL (DB, MI, and SQL on VMs) including backups, failover groups, and HA setups
• Automate DBA tasks and implement monitoring & RCA processes
• Mentor L1/L2 teams and enforce database best practices

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in MS SQL Server (2016 2022)
• Deep experience in HA/DR, performance tuning, and Azure SQL
• Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and automation

Good to Have

• Oracle DBA (RAC, Data Guard)
• PostgreSQL (replication, performance tuning)
