Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Manager, System Requirements and Integration Engineering at its Orlando, FL location.

The L3Harris Orlando site is a prime tactical and strategic missile system provider supporting ballistic missile defense testing and other all-up-round missile systems. High-Fidelity Air-Launched one, two, and three stage ballistic missile targets are the primary product line. Our capabilities range from the precision assembly of large missile structures to telemetry, avionics, networks, flight control systems, flight termination control modules, advanced vehicle guidance systems, environmental stress screening, qualification and acceptance testing, and mission execution.

The Manager of Systems Engineering is responsible for leading all activities within the Systems Engineering team. This includes defining and managing design requirements, coordinating continuously with multidisciplinary internal and external teams, and verifying product designs across all operating conditions. Systems Engineering is included in all phases of the product lifecycle to include design, fabrication, testing, flight, and post-flight data processing. This is a fast-paced environment that requires knowledge of the entire value stream from proposals to product implementation.

Essential Functions:

Provides technical leadership to the Systems Engineering team which is critical to All-Up-Round missile programs at the site. Advises team members in the resolution of technical, programmatic, and operational problems based on specific goals, L3Harris policy, procedures and meeting established schedules.

Develops and implements Systems Engineering processes and tools, as appropriate, for continued improvement, education, and training. Participates in Technical Meetings (internal and external) as required to maintain knowledge in this field. Works across the company to ensure consistent application of best practices in performing job responsibilities.

Manages direct reports working on a variety of project activities. Supports goals of integrated product teams by balancing work-load and priorities of direct reports and addressing administrative issues pertaining to the accomplishment of tasks. Manages training budgets, conducts performance appraisals, and supports discretionary tasks as required.

Works closely with Business Development, Program Management, and Engineering Leadership to develop solutions to and responses for potential customer inquiries and proposal support.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years prior related experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Mastery of Systems Engineering or a broad expertise across multiple Aerospace disciplines.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated supervisory and strong communication skills managing a team of engineers with multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Prior experience with team management at either the program or functional levels to include interviewing, mentorship, resource planning and allocation, and performance evaluations.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and providing constructive feedback.
  • High level of emotional intelligence to foster strong working relationships and maintain a positive team culture.
  • Strong strategic thinking to support development and implementation of strategic initiatives and drive continuous improvement within the team.
  • Experience with the entire program lifecycle from technology demonstrations to transition to production of tactical and strategic missiles and/or launch vehicles.
  • Experience in systems engineering requirements and verification methods. The ability to understand mechanical and electrical aerospace drawings, environmental test requirements, and various aerospace analysis methods is a plus.
  • Accustomed to leading technical engagement with internal and external customers in formal presentations as well as informal table-top discussions.
  • Knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS requirements management tools strongly desired.
