Senior Project Manager (SME)

ASSYST is seeking a Senior Project Manager (SME) with demonstrated federal governance and executive stakeholder management experience.

The Project Manager will lead and coordinate cybersecurity assessment initiatives, leveraging a proven ability to lead multiple concurrent cybersecurity/compliance workstreams while driving delivery rigor, quality, and accountability in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full RMF lifecycle to achieve and maintain ATO for federal systems, utilizing FISMA, NIST 800-53, and RMF compliance activities.
• Support assessments and audits by coordinating evidence through GRC/compliance tooling (e.g., CSAM, ServiceNow GRC).
• Manage overall contract performance in federal contracting environments (FFP/LH), including progress against schedules, deliverable status, and risk/assumption tracking.
• Serve as the central project lead, with the ability to communicate cybersecurity risk and project status to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of vulnerability assessments and remediation using tools like Tenable or Nessus to mitigate risks identified in the POA&M.
• Facilitate Agile or Scrum ceremonies (sprints, stand-ups) to deliver cybersecurity capabilities on time and within budget, utilizing tools like Jira or ServiceNow.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Master s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 15+ years as a senior program leader with demonstrated federal governance and executive stakeholder management.
• Proven track record of leading multiple concurrent cybersecurity/compliance workstreams.
• Extensive experience supporting federal environments, specifically FISMA / NIST 800-53 / RMF compliance.
• Direct experience delivering in federal contracting environments (FFP/LH).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or DAWIA PM Level III certification is strongly preferred.
